Boston reimposes a mask mandate due to the outbreak of COVID-19 cases as a result of the Delta variant of the coronavirus.

The order applies to all public, indoor spaces and places of businesses except for houses of worship. Although nearly 62% of the city’s adults are fully vaccinated, there were 1,793 cases on the day before the mandate goes into effect.
